Joe Black MVP Award
The Arizona Fall League instituted the Joe Black Most Valuable Player Award, honoring the former big-league pitcher and 1952 National League Rookie of the Year, in 2002 to recognize the league’s most valuable player each season. The Fall League did not select an MVP during its first 10 seasons.

Dernell Stenson Sportsmanship Award
The Arizona Fall League instituted the Dernell Stenson Sportsmanship Award in 2004 in memory of former AFL player Dernell Stenson, who was killed in 2003 in Arizona during the AFL season. The award is presented annually to the Fall League player who best exemplifies unselfishness, hard work and leadership.
