David Ross is in the 'Dancing With the Stars' semifinals after a 'Gangsta's Paradise' gladiator bit

David Ross' storybook year has extended well past his role in the Cubs' World Series run last fall. A heralded celebrity participant on this season of "Dancing With the Stars," Ross and his dancing partner Lindsay Arnold have made it to the semifinals after some spirited performances that touched on everything from '90s nostalgia to "Magic Mike."

Next up, Ross, Arnold and Hayley Erbert donned gladiator garb and struck some serious faces for their next act, a themed trio performance set to the theatrical "Gangsta's Paradise":

The above performances were all Ross and Arnold needed on the night, as by the time the votes were officially cast and counted, they persevered -- punching a ticket to the semifinals in the process:

Ross' post-baseball dancing career is apparently far from over, as he's proven himself a force to be reckoned with. Check back next week to find out what he has in store for the semifinals ...
