The Giants called up super-prospect Christian Arroyo, and his mom just couldn't believe it

Before their series-opening 2-1 win over the rival Dodgers at AT&T Park on Monday night, the Giants dropped some news: They called up third baseman Christian Arroyo, their No. 2 prospect according to MLB Pipeline

This is a big deal, especially considering that Arroyo was hitting .446/.478/.692 in 16 games with Triple-A Sacramento and has been the subject of much anticipation for a while now. It seems like he's been anticipating it too, judging by this exchange passed along by the Giants' No. 1 prospect, right-hander Tyler Beede:

His mother, Kim, however, had a hard time grasping this fantastic news. As MLB.com's Chris Haft noted before the game, Arroyo explained it was a rather emotional scene all around once the news hit:
"Actually, I cried a little bit, and then I called my mom. She didn't believe me. It took her about a solid five minutes to believe me. She just kept saying, 'No, you're lying, you're lying, you're lying,' and I was like, 'No I'm not.'"
In fact, Arroyo had to convince his mom, Kim Drummond, since the news had not yet been made public when he told her:
"I was just very persistent. At that time it wasn't public yet, so there was really nothing she could see that said I was in the lineup tonight."
But no, he was most definitely not lying:

It was very much really happening, prompting this great response from Kim:

Later in the afternoon, Drummond spoke with Giants traveling secretary Bret Alexander about setting up travel arrangements to be at AT&T Park for Tuesday's game, which will make the whole thing even more magical for the entire family.
As far as "beaming parents" moments go, Drummon's initial reaction to her son's amazing news is as good as it gets.
