Jay Bruce ran all the way into the dugout after a groundout before realizing it was actually a foul ball

In the Mets' season-capping 1-0 win over the Marlins on Sunday (the result of a sterling pitching performance and amusing bat-breaking afternoon from Noah Syndergaard), there was also one of those incidents where little can be done other than a smile and a shrug.
For the final out of the top of the seventh, third baseman Todd Frazier fielded a ground ball off the bat of Miami outfielder Isaac Galloway and fired it across the diamond to first baseman Jay Bruce -- er, that's what Bruce thought happened.
It was a foul ball, though. Bruce didn't realize that until he'd already jogged off the field and down the dugout steps, where his teammates informed him of the news. He then rushed back onto the field and did this:
