An offseason ode to Adam Jones, the undisputed master of the celebratory pie

BALTIMORE, MD - JULY 10: Adam Jones #10 hits Jonathan Schoop #6 of the Baltimore Orioles with a pie after Schoop hit a walk off home run giving the Orioles a 3-2 win over the Washington Nationals at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on July 10, 2015 in Baltimore, Maryland. Baseball bats can double as selfie sticks. Teams kill time playing Snapchat games on Twitter. And as baseball has evolved in the 21st century, so has its celebrations -- from monstrous bat flips to elaborate dance routines to just straight flinging buckets of filth at people.
Amid all the modern bells and whistles, though, it's easy to overlook the classics. Sometimes all a celebration requires is a pie and an unsuspecting interviewer -- which is why we're so happy to have Adam Jones, patrolling center field in Baltimore and occasionally delivering pastries to the faces of teammates and media members. And so, on celebrate National Pie Day, we have no choice to but to honor the master of the form by revisiting some of his finest moments.
April 1, 2014: Welcome to Baltimore, Nelson Cruz!

While the application of the pie is solid, he doesn't quite stick the landing -- though we'll assign bonus points for also pie'ing the mic. Grade: B+
September 17, 2014: You've just won the AL East! What are you going to do next?

Admittedly not the cleanest form, but Jones shows impressive dedication to make it through the crowd -- and hey, a division-clinching pie is always a great pie. Grade: A-
April 12, 2015: Tag team

While the drive-by pie does add some degree of difficulty, the accuracy leaves something to be desired, and besides -- getting Manny Machado  to do your dirty work is beneath you, Adam. Grade: B
April 30, 2015: Note to self: Do not pie Buck Showalter

While we relish the thought of Buck Showalter's legendary scowl covered in pie, we can't fault Jones for making the business decision here. Grade: F
June 24, 2014: Here, Chris, have some pie

Hitting another man in the face with a pie? Pretty bold. Hitting another man in the face with a pie that you've just offered to him? Cold-blooded. Grade: A+++
