Should the Athletics have used an opener in the AL Wild Card Game?

Before Wednesday night's 7-2 loss to the Yankees in the American League Wild Card Game, the Athletics decided to go with the de rigueur option and chose to use an "opener" -- starting the game with a reliever for a short stretch rather than the customary starting pitcher.
Inspired by the Rays and their fascinating rejection of traditional pitching roles, the Athletics began experimenting before the end of the year as injuries decimated the team's rotation.
So after eight mostly successful regular season "starts," Liam Hendriks took the Yankee Stadium mound in the bottom of the first. While he gave up a two-run home run to Aaron Judge, that's something every pitcher might do. So, was it the right move? Or should the A's have used a traditional starter? Let us know below.
