Jewel Events

Major League Baseball collaborates with its Clubs during Jewel Events to promote sustainable efforts at and around the ballparks.

All-Star Week

During each year's All-Star Week, MLB promotes sustainable practices through a variety of special initiatives.

Local university students participate as members of the Green Team for all Midsummer Classic Events -- including the HBCU Swingman Classic, All-Star Saturday with the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game and Celebrity Softball Game, T-Mobile Home Run Derby and MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard -- to educate fans on positive environmental practices. The members of the Green Team learn about MLB and Club sustainability efforts, and help with volunteer and community events during All-Star Week.

In conjunction with Pachama and the Bonneville Environmental Foundation, MLB is offsetting the footprint of carbon and energy used during All-Star Week by purchasing renewable energy credits and carbon offsets.

MLB supplies media, broadcasters and staff with reusable branded water bottles during All-Star Week. Water refill stations are set up in the broadcast compound, press box and staff work areas to provide these groups with an opportunity to refill the bottles and eliminate single-use water bottles.

To encourage other forms of transportation throughout All-Star Week, MLB promotes a Green Path between popular locations, such as the ballpark, All-Star Village and hotels located in the All-Star host city. In Seattle, the Green Path consisted of walking and biking routes and could be followed along via decals placed throughout the city. MLB also offered free bike valet for fans at All-Star Village on Monday and Tuesday of All-Star Week.

Postseason Green Team & World Series Green Team

Similar to All-Star Week, MLB promotes environmental initiatives throughout the Postseason and World Series.

MLB and the Clubs competing in the Postseason collaborate on Green Teams at the ballparks. The Green Teams consist of community organizations or local university students who collect recyclables in between innings at the ballparks.

Greening efforts are broadcasted to fans at the ballparks and promoted throughout the Postseason.
