James is a seasoned senior executive based in Toronto, Canada, with more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. At TD, he is responsible for driving enterprise-wide business development, with a particular focus on commercial banking, wealth management, and corporate banking. In addition, he serves as TD's Strategy Officer to the World Economic Forum (WEF), representing the bank globally across key regions including such as the and has represented TD internationally in the Middle East, Asia, and Europe.
Recognized for his strategic insight and leadership, James has built a strong track record in business development and cultivated an extensive international network spanning business, politics, and the broader community. A committed philanthropist, he is deeply dedicated to organizations that support the well-being of children, both locally and globally. He has served on numerous boards, where his expertise in fundraising, community building, and governance has been highly impactful. Currently, James serves as the Chair of the Jays Care Foundation Board and as Chair of the Real Estate Committee of Metrolink's Board of Directors.
In 2012, as part of his work with the Right to Play board, James led a mission of eight business leaders and Canadian Olympians to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. His community leadership and philanthropic contributions have been widely recognized. In 2011, he received the Children’s Aid Foundation Guardian Award, followed by the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Award in 2012. In 2019, James was awarded the Significant Sig Award by the Sigma Chi Fraternity, the highest honor bestowed upon alumni for exemplary professional achievement - and the Spirit Award from the Ontario Rett Syndrome Association. More recently, he was awarded the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Medallion in 2022 and King Charles III's Coronation Medal in 2024. In 2024, James was also named an Honourary Chief of the Peel Regional Police.
A prominent political fundraiser and organizer, James has chaired multiple municipal, provincial, and federal political campaigns. Most recently he served as the Chair of the Conservative Party (Fund) Canada from 2020 to 2022.
James holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance (Magna Cum Laude), from Saint Mary’s University in Nova Scotia, as well as a Master of Business Administration with Distinction from the University of Bath in England.
