Adam Wainwright conducted part of this interview from a bathroom stall, because safety first
Early Tuesday morning, Mets ace Matt Harvey reminded us all how necessary it is to take regular bathroom breaks. Word apparently trickled down to Jupiter, Fla., where St. Louis' Adam Wainwright asked to begin his interview from inside a bathroom stall.
He passed on the first question -- "No. 1 or No. 2?" -- but was then asked to assess how things had gone before lightning had halted his start after 3 2/3 innings. To that, he flushed any concern about an abbreviated final spring outing.
"I have some things to work on," Wainwright noted from the other side of the bathroom door. "I have to work on my direction to home plate a little better. My body is leaking toward the first-base side, which is causing my pitches not to be as sharp as I'd want them."
Wainwright, beaming with pride that he had provided a bunch of sportswriters a new interview experience, left the latrine to finish the rest of the session in person.
