The American League's All-Star shortstops had to simultaneously flee when a pregame liner came their way

When a baseball is hit in your direction, reactions tend to vary based on quality of contact. If it's a popup, then you might have a chance at a souvenir! If it's a line drive? Watch out. That rule even goes for All-Stars.

The American League boasted an excellent trio of shortstops at the 2018 All-Star Game with Manny Machado, Francisco Lindor and Jean Segura. During a pregame interview with MLB Network's Carlos Pena, though, they all scattered when a sharply-hit ball came toward them:

Run away! Run away!

Perhaps most amusingly, it was Pena (the retired player) who looked most prepared to try to catch the ball.

Way to show the kids how it's done, Carlos.
