Johnny Bench provided some wild, mid-interview play-by-play during a Reds rally

The Mets had a special guest on their broadcast in the bottom of the third inning on Tuesday night against the Reds. Since they were in Cincinnati, they had the privilege of Hall of Famer Johnny Bench joining SNY for a mid-game interview with Steve Gelbs.
Naturally, Bench provided some interesting nuggets about the Big Red Machine teams of yore, and he even got some digs in at Keith Hernandez (his amazing Twitter account was sadly not mentioned). The true jewel of the interview, though, proved to be Bench's exhilarated commentary, first on Jason Vargas handling a comebacker ...

... and then on Eugenio Suárez's RBI double:

Bench was unsure if Joey Votto could score on the play, but was pleasantly surprised that the throw home got away from Mets catcher Tomas Nido.
"Wait a minute, get me a glove! That would have been an out at home!" Bench cracked.
He would know.
