Bill Murray tried to bribe the umpires on his Minor League team's Opening Day

Actor Bill Murray garnered plenty of attention in 2016 as the devout Cubs fan watched from the World Series stands as his beloved team snapped its championship drought. However, the Cubs aren't Murray's only baseball passion.
Murray is a co-owner and "Director of Fun" for the Charleston RiverDogs, a Yankees Low-A affiliate in the South Atlantic League. He makes for an unusual boss, but he has been involved with the team, from inspiring promotions based on his movies to partying with the players after clinching a playoff spot.
So on Opening Day of the Minor League season in Charleston, why wouldn't Murray try to go the extra mile to help the RiverDogs?

It was a bold attempt by Murray, but the umpires didn't take the bait. Maybe it would have helped, as Charleston fell to the visiting Lexington Legends by a score of 6-3.
The team certainly seemed to appreciate the help though!

It's a fair point! These aren't quite the same authority figures as the ones Murray dealt with in Ghostbusters or Stripes, though.
Maybe next time, Murray can help by making himself an emergency late-game substitution, a la Space Jam. He has the baseball experience, after all!
