Relive the glory of Bobby Bonilla capping a 10-pitch at-bat with a walk-off grand slam

Just five seasons into their existence, the Florida Marlins were enjoying a Cinderella-type year in 1997. With veteran leader Jeff Conine, slugging outfielder Gary Sheffield and rookie sensation Livan Hernandez, the Fish found themselves just 5 1/2 games back of the NL East-leading Braves and 5 games up on the Mets and Giants in the Wild Card. Room for error was slim. Close losses were unacceptable.
Bobby Bonilla, who celebrates his 55th birthday today, knew these things.
So with his team down one run to the Rockies with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning on Sept. 16, 1997, Bonilla battled and battled and battled some more against closer Jerry Dipoto. He took two balls and fouled off six pitches in a dramatic 10-pitch at-bat. And then, Bobby Bo and his glorious, sports-dad mustache decided it was due time that this game ended:

The Marlins, as you know, would go on to win the Wild Card and the World Series that year. Bonilla slugged two homers and 10 RBIs for them in the postseason.
