MLB Dream Lineup: 18th Century Nobles
The Romans famously said, "nomen est omen." Which, I believe means "The original Omen was a great film, but the remake wasn't very good." Unrelated to that though, the Romans also believed that your name is your destiny. After all, wasn't Reginald T. Baseball the greatest baseball player in history?
With that said, there are a number of current Major Leaguers whose names would have destined them for a life of nobility -- if only they had been born in the right century.
So what does that team look like?
C: Wellington Castillo
A nobelman whose table is always full, Castillo is known for inventing the Beef Wellington. True fact.
1B: Prince Fielder
First, he's a Prince, so uhhh, that's easy.
Second, he's the son of former homer champ Cecil Fielder -- which basically makes him baseball royalty, too.
2B:
When not heading out to the Galapagos to discover the theory of evolution, Barney is usually sipping a nice porter in his parlor and planning his daughter's entrance into society.
3B: Zelous Wheeler
Within Wheeler's kingdom, there is endless happiness and no rainy days. In fact, the only people who are jailed are those who make "OverZelous" puns.
SS:
You may recognize King Didi from somewhere: That's right, Didi Gregorius is really Kirby and Super Smash Bros. character King Dedede. The mere fact that he's crossed over to our reality spells epic consequences and we must return him to the land of video games before our world ceases to exist!
We should mention that Gregorius is also a literal knight -- his full name is Sir Mariekson Julius Gregorius. He was knighted after the Netherlands won the IBAF Baseball World Cup three years ago.
LF:
Davis keeps two tigers as pets/imperial guards, he's actually a pretty fun guy if you can get over the constant fear of being devoured.
CF: Matt den Dekker
Forget William of Orange, let's call this one Matt of Blue-and-Orange.
RF:
While King Cain is known for his legendary singing abilities, should you be caught filming him, it's straight to the guillotine with you.
SP:
Perhaps the easiest one on this list. After all, Hernandez is considered by many to be a king, with his royal subjects happily chomping on giant turkey legs when seated in his Court.
