Salt Bae is the perfect meme to reference after a 97.6-mph throw, says Carlos Gomez
Mets outfielder Carlos Gomez is a gold mine when it comes to entertainment on the baseball diamond. His latest example came in the fifth inning of Wednesday night's Mets-Dodgers game in Los Angeles when Corey Seager tried to turn a double into a triple.
Gomez, who slightly misplayed the ball -- he had a decent chance of catching it before picking up a ricochet off the center-field wall -- uncorked a rocket of a throw to nail Seager at third base for the out. Statcast estimated his throw at 97.6 mph, and that sounds about right:
But it was Gomez's move after the epic throw that sealed his fate as the game's best meme master of the moment. Remember Salt Bae? CarGo definitely does.
Never stop being you, Carlos.
