Chipper Jones first met Jim Thome during a Minor League brawl back in 1993

Chipper Jones and Jim Thome were two of the greatest players of their generation, as evidenced by their induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday. Their paths crossed plenty of times during their memorable careers, from All-Star Games to the 1995 World Series, and they became fast friends.
Back in 1993, though, they were just a couple of promising but largely unknown prospects trying to scratch their way to the Major Leagues -- and as Jones explained in his induction speech, their initial encounter wasn't nearly so friendly. You can listen to the whole story in the clip above, but let's just say it involves Ryan Klesko, some pitches that were a little too high-and-tight and Thome using his "Hand of God" to make peace amid the chaos.
