Let's say happy birthday to Cliff Floyd by watching a classic Cliff Floyd dinger

Cliff Floyd's career was filled with what-ifs. A first-round pick back in the 1991 MLB Draft, Floyd tore through the Minors -- he slashed .329/.417/.600 with 26 homers and 31 steals over a full season at Double-A ... as a 20-year-old -- and quickly established himself as one of the very best prospects in baseball. He seemingly had it all: power, speed, a sweet left-handed swing and, most importantly, swag.

And when he was healthy, that was an awesome combination. His 2001 season in Florida: 31 homers, 18 steals, a .968 OPS. Alas, over 17 years spent with the Expos, Marlins and Mets, Floyd just wasn't healthy all that often -- there was a broken wrist in 1995, a hamstring strain in 1997, a knee injury in 1999, even a torn Achilles tendon trying to rehab said knee injury.
We didn't get nearly enough of the full Cliff Floyd Experience. But don't let that distract you from one very important fact: Even on one leg, even in his old age, there were very few dingers like a Cliff Floyd dinger. So, on this his 44th birthday, let us focus not on what might have been, but instead on all the homers that were. Specifically, let's focus on his three-run, walk-off blast against the Angels on June 11, 2005, which provided an answer to the question, "What would it look like if Ken Griffey Jr. were built like a linebacker?"

Happy birthday, Cliff. You may have hit your mid-40s, but we'd still pick you to win a home run derby.
