For its 25th anniversary, 'Homer at the Bat' will get the mockumentary treatment this weekend

It's been 25 years since The Simpsons first aired "Homer at the Bat," the inspirational account of how Mr. Burns turned the Springfield Power Plant softball team into champions by replacing them with a lineup of Major League All-Stars (and Homer Simpson's well-placed noggin).
The episode has already had a pretty great anniversary, with Homer earning his much-deserved induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame earlier this summer. And now, it's receiving one of the very highest honors in all of pop culture: its very own mockumentary.

The project is entitled "Springfield of Dreams: The Legend of Homer Simpson," and as you can see from the clip above, it's got it all -- from interviews with eight of the original Springfield ringers to appearances by Aaron Judge, Nick Offerman and some of your favorite recurring Simpsons characters. Think Ken Burns' iconic "Baseball" miniseries, only now with 100 percent more Apu.
FOX will air "Springfield of Dreams" on Sunday, but the specific time it airs will vary from city to city. So, check your local listings and mark your calendars now -- hopefully this will finally provide some answers about the Springfield Mystery Spot.
