Glen Perkins expresses very personal sympathy for Vikings kicker Blair Walsh after missed FG

When Minnesota Vikings kicker Blair Walsh knocked a 27-yard, would-be game-winning field goal wide left against the Seahawks in Sunday's Wild Card matchup, the entire world (including many MLB players) erupted with "LACES OUT!" -- not exactly the most comforting response to your season ending on what is usually a gimme kick.
Fellow professional Minnesota athlete Glen Perkins, however, had a more personally sympathetic reaction:

The scenarios aren't exact -- a blown save requires a lead, while Walsh kicked as the Vikings trailed -- but the sentiment, of being so close and yet coming up short, is indeed the same. And, sure enough, Perkins has indeed blown a save with two outs, no runners on base and a three-run lead: Sept. 3, 2013.
He entered in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Twins led the Astros, 6-3. He gave up a leadoff single, but then got Chris Carter to ground into a double play. Perkins' three-lead was still intact, with two outs and nobody on.
Alas, things did not stay that way. One hit batter, a single and a Brandon Barnes' three-run home run later, Perkins was charged with a blown save.

The games had slightly different outcomes, though. The Twins ended up winning, scoring three runs in the 12th, so Perkins' blown save probably didn't sting quite like Walsh's miss. But Perkins' teammates didn't hold it against him, and hopefully Walsh's won't, either:
