Embracing the power of history, the Mets will wear '86 throwbacks at Sunday home games this year
Consider: In 2014, 29 years after their previous championship in 1985, the Royals were World Series runners-up. In 2015, 30 years after George Brett and Co. last took home the title, they defeated the Mets to win the World Series. That made the Mets the World Series runners-up, 29 years after their previous championship in 1986 ... see where this is going?
The Mets understand the implications here. They have an opportunity to embrace the power of history, and they are not going to waste it:
We are throwing it back! We will wear 1986 throwback uniforms during every Sunday home game. https://t.co/plRj4hKDAC pic.twitter.com/Cb4eU9KaxU

Every Sunday home game during the 2016 season, they'll be wearing '86 throwback uniforms in Queens. They will be paying their respects at the altar of history in hopes that the 30th anniversary of their last World Series championship will echo throughout 2016:
It might just work. If the past two seasons are any indiciation, history is on the Mets' side.
