Minor League game was suspended after 18 innings due to curfew restrictions

On Friday night, the South Bend Cubs hosted the Clinton LumberKings in what figured to be a routine Midwest League game.
It ended up being much less than routine as a 6-6 tie in the eighth inning persisted through the 18th inning. With the 18th inning starting two minutes before the league curfew, it would be the final inning played of that game regardless of outcome. Indeed, the score remained tied at the completion of the 18th inning, prompting a suspension of play.

Despite 18 innings of play, this game is not yet over. Saturday evening, play will resume between the Cubs and LumberKings at 5:30 p.m. in the top of the 19th inning. Saturday's originally scheduled game is set to begin at 7:05 p.m., or 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first contest.
After 10 consecutive scoreless innings prior to the suspension, the game only needed one inning to reach a resolution on its second day.
