Mitch Haniger hit a walk-off homer before the Safeco Field roof could close and stop the rain

The Mariners and Angels were locked in a tense contest on Wednesday afternoon. The Angels had come back from an early 4-1 deficit to take the lead, and they carried a 6-4 advantage into the seventh-inning stretch.
After the break, though, an RBI double from Jean Segura cut the margin to one run, and in the eighth, Ryon Healy launched a game-tying long ball. So, the hometown fans' focus was directly on the game as they entered the bottom of the ninth tied at 6 ...
... at least until the rain started up and the Safeco Field retractable roof didn't cooperate quickly enough:

The fans were getting wet in a hurry, so Mitch Haniger came to the rescue:

The walk-off homer gave the Mariners an 8-6 win and allowed the fans who were previously scrambling with ponchos and other protective gear to safely run under cover.
Mitch Haniger: Hero to the Common Man.
