Padres fans, meet Kazuhisa Makita and his awesome sidearm action

The Padres have inked a two-year deal with submariner Kazuhisa Makita. He, along with fellow Japanese star Shohei Ohtani, were made available by their Japanese teams and were each given a 30-day window to reach deals with Major League teams … and now, Makita is a resident of the Golden State. And so is Ohtani, who joined the Angels last month.

Makita didn't make his professional debut until he was 26, but he did post a 2.61 ERA with a 5-7 record and finished off his appearance winning the league's Rookie of the Year award. And over six seasons with the Saitama Seibu Lions of the Japan Pacific League, he boasted a 2.83 ERA.
In his final season before coming to MLB, Makita finished with a 2.30 ERA recording 35 strikeouts across 62 2/3 innings.
