The best infields involve players that forge a strong defensive chemistry together. You know, along the lines of an Alan Trammell/Lou Whitaker type of thing. Pitchers benefit greatly when the fielders behind them have their backs. 
In Adalberto Mondesi and Alcides Escobar, the Royals seem to have a pretty solid duo in their own right, and it was made evident on a slick play during Tuesday's game with the White Sox. 
Mondesi ranged to his right to make a gliding grab on a José Abreu grounder up the middle and flipped it to a waiting Escobar, who fired to first base to nab Abreu by a step:
