Rory McIlroy appeared on CBS The Morning from Yankee Stadium, discussing charity and Tiger Woods
Wednesday morning, Rory McIlroy appeared on CBS This Morning from a unique location: Yankee Stadium. He was there to discuss his return to health on the golf course, golfing with Donald Trump and his charity work with St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital - including the event held, you guessed it, at Yankee Stadium.
In addition to taking a couple shots off the tee, McIroy provided some general updates about his life and work. He started off by talking about his charitable partnership with FedEx to make a $1 million donation to St. Jude's, saying how happy he is to be in a position to give back. "If you had asked me 10 years ago when I was just on the verge of turning professional," he told CBS's Norah O'Donnell, "I would never have envisioned what I've been able to do on the golf course or off it for that matter."
"To be able to give back to people less fortunate, that's something I'm very proud of," @McIlroyRory says. https://t.co/j2Cyj2Tvb0 pic.twitter.com/3m6x4AUYDO

The portion of the interview that aired on CBS This Morning also included anecdotes about his conversations with Tiger Woods about recovering from injury and his experience golfing under Secret Service protection with Donald Trump.
On the CBS website, he also described at length the rib injury he suffered and his focus on recovery and improving aspects of his golf game.
"For me it's wedge play and specifically from 100 yards to 150 yards that's something I really need to work on" @McIlroyRory @CBSThisMorning pic.twitter.com/500qyNn3PV

He also hit his first Yankee Stadium home run:

Hopefully, his recovery and charitable works will allow him the opportunity to tee off at other MLB ballparks.
