The key to Mallex Smith's four-hit game may have been his upgraded Florida chain necklace

TORONTO, ON - AUGUST 16: Mallex Smith #0 of the Tampa Bay Rays is congratulated by teammates in the dugout after scoring a run on a bases-loaded walk in the seventh inning during MLB game action against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre on August 16, 2017 in Toronto, Canada. Rays outfielder Mallex Smith had a huge game Monday, collecting four hits, including a double and a triple, against the White Sox. Smith's big day at the plate came on a frigid day in Chicago in which snow entirely covered the field mere hours before first pitch. Smith was born and raised in Tallahassee, Fla., a place where such weather is certainly a little less common than it is in Chicago. Last year, Smith showed off his Florida roots in the form of a chain necklace in the shape of his home state:

Now in his second year in Tampa Bay, it appears that Smith has upgraded his chain necklace to an even bigger version of the Sunshine State:

As Smith mentioned after the game, as a Floridian, he'd much rather be inside when it's this cold:

Even in the freezing cold, Smith always has a little piece -- or in this case, a considerably large piece -- of sunny Florida close by. Who knows how big it'll be next year?
