Tommy La Stella and Ian Happ have been interviewing Cubs home run hitters
Recently, the Cubs' Tommy La Stella and Ian Happ have been conducting in-game interviews in the dugout. They only talk to players after they hit home runs and Happ was busy on Saturday when the Cubs smacked six against the Phillies.
What's going on? La Stella said he found a microphone in the video room, and was inspired.
"I was just messing around, grabbed one, and brought it out to the dugout and it stayed there," La Stella said, somewhat impishly.
Happ was busy in Philadelphia, posing questions to Anthony Rizzo, who hit two homers that game, and La Stella, who also hit a pair.
"He's been doing a great job," La Stella said of the rookie Happ. "I brought it out originally. We decided whoever wasn't in the lineup would have the mic."
"When Tommy's out there hitting homers," Happ said, "somebody has to pick it up for him. I was guest hosting. I had a good day for it because there were a lot of homers."

It isn't that La Stella has dreams of becoming a broadcaster one day when he's finished playing baseball.
"I thought it looked funny," La Stella said. "That's about it. That's as deep as it goes."
