Two-time cancer survivor Leslie Gordon threw out the first pitch to her son, Alex

Thursday night, the Royals hosted Breast Cancer Awareness night during the team's 14-5 loss to the Athletics. As part of the pregame festivities, registered nurse and two-time cancer survivor Leslie Gordon threw out the first pitch to her son, Alex -- who probably looks pretty familiar to you:

When the younger Gordon was growing up, he watched his mom work two jobs -- an experience he credits for helping develop his strong work ethic. In all, it was pretty poignant that the two of them had the opportunity to participate in the first pitch on a day designated to raise awareness for a disease which has touched both of their lives.
As if that weren't enough, Leslie Gordon unleashed a beautiful eephus pitch. In our estimate, it would have crossed just over the inside part of the plate to a right-handed batter and tied him up something fierce for a beautiful strike.
