Jon Jay raced across America to make this amazing sliding catch

One day after racing back to the wall to make a great leaping catch that stole extra bases from Nolan Arenado , Padres center fielder Jon Jay was back at it again on Thursday. When the Mets' Curtis Granderson hit a deep fly ball to left-center in the top of the third inning, Jay had to run for days to make the grab. Seriously, take a look:

That's really far! If you don't realize what an insane distance that is, consider: According to Statcast™, Jay covered 111.9 feet of ground to make the grab, with a top speed of 20 mph and a route efficiency of 97.3 percent. Still mind-blown by all those numbers? Let's break it down frame-by-frame:

The catch wasn't just a great grab, though. It also protected what was, at the time, a no-hitter for Padres starter Colin Rea. Rea would hold onto the no-no until Yoenis Cespedes hit a ground ball against the shift for a single in the top of the seventh.
