About Forest Park Nature Reserve

Consisting of nearly 194 acres, the Nature Reserve in Forest Park contains native old-growth forest habitat, restored forests and woodlands, tall grass prairies, savannas, wetlands and two linear miles of reconstructed river system. The Nature Reserve provides a positive environmental impact, natural balance, educational opportunities, and aesthetics, all within the heart of a highly urban area.

The Nature Reserve provides great benefits to the Park and the surrounding community. These benefits include ecological services such as rainwater retention and filtration, carbon sequestration and plant pollination.

Forest stand improvement is one of the practices Forest Park Forever, in partnership with the City of St. Louis uses to help forest management. This practice is used to restore the overall health, species composition and openness of a forested community.

About One Tree Planted

As an environmental charity, One Tree Planted is dedicated to making it easier for individuals and businesses to give back to the environment, create a healthier climate, protect biodiversity, and help reforestation efforts around the world, all by planting trees!

Started in 2014, One Tree Planted has more than doubled the number of trees planted year over year, and works with awesome reforestations partners across 43 countries who help get trees in the ground. These projects restore forests after fires and floods, create jobs, build communities, and protect habitat for wildlife.
