Wearing No. 2 in honor of Derek Jeter, Alex Bregman hit a grand slam on #JeterNight

Any young kid who watches the game of baseball develops a keen interest in a particular player. He might even use the term "favorite player," the guy who just takes the game to another level. For Astros infielder Alex Bregman, that player was Derek Jeter. Bregman wears No. 2 on his jersey in honor of Jeter -- that's how much he admires him.
On Sunday night, Bregman's Astros took on the Yankees at Yankee Stadium in the finale of their four-game series, but of course this was also the night of Jeter's iconic No. 2 being retired by the Yankees. The game had a lavish pregame ceremony toasting Jeter for all of his accomplishments and ushering him into a special class of players to make their mark while wearing pinstripes.

As for the game, the Astros shot out to a quick 6-0 lead in the first inning on back-to-back homers from George Springer and Josh Reddick and a grand slam by ... yep, you guessed it, Alex Bregman:

So the guy wearing No. 2 in honor of Jeter hit a grand slam (for his first home run of 2017) on Jeter Night.

That has to have felt pretty good for young Bregman.
