Andrew Benintendi will have a new look in 2018 thanks to a trip to the barber

On paper, the 2018 Red Sox outfield currently projects to look a lot like the 2017 version. However, in reality, the outfield will look somewhat different as Andrew Benintendi showed up Thursday with a new, sleeker hair cut:

The new look may well open the door for some innovation in Benintendi's celebration repertoire now that the classic hair flip will no longer be available with the new do.

The move to the new look marks another instance of notable hair changes this offseason. Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom cut off his locks and speculated that the shorter hair would add velocity to his fastball.
Even with the longer hair style, Benintendi was plenty aerodynamic in the outfield.

If his shorter hair allows him to move even faster, there won't be many balls falling in left field when he's out there in 2018. The reason behind the new 'do is one anyone with an overbooked social calendar can relate to, though: As MLB.com's Ian Browne related, Benintendi cut his hair after attending many offseason weddings.
