Austin Slater hit a home run, but it took him a while to figure it out

After a night where he was stuck working with broken tools, Giants left fielder Austin Slater came back for Saturday afternoon's game against the Pirates with an uncracked bat. In the sixth inning, Slater showed the Pirates what he can do when he's swinging a bat that isn't broken.

The ball cleared both the wall and the glove of Andrew McCutchen, but, perhaps cautious following the cracked bat incident of Friday night, Slater remained unconvinced of his dinger.

Slater eventually received confirmation that his hit had actually landed beyond the PNC Park wall to tie the game at 1 apiece, and he completed his journey around the bases.
Both fans and Slater have now learned what he can do with a properly functioning hitting implement. So long as his bat is in one piece, he should have no reason to doubt a home run again.
