Carlos Correa celebrated the Astros' World Series title by proposing to his girlfriend on the field

How would you celebrate a World Series title? Well, if you're Astros shortstop Carlos Correa, here's how:

That's what he did after Houston beat the Dodgers, 5-1, in Game 7 on Wednesday to clinch the team's first World Series championship.
"I took a big step in my life," Correa told the MLB Tonight crew a few minutes after he proposed to Daniella Rodriguez, who was Miss Texas in 2016. "I just got engaged after winning the World Series." He did admit his plans created "extra pressure," since the Astros winning was the first part of his two-step plan.

Correa's proposal calls to mind that time in 2007 when Boise State's Ian Johnson proposed to his then-girlfriend, the team's head cheerleader Chrissy Popadics, after winning the Fiesta Bowl. Also a great on-field proposal moment:

Correa also explained that in the ninth inning, he had asked the clubhouse attendant to bring him his ring if the Astros successfully closed things out -- and, amusingly, his teammate Justin Verlander wasn't aware any of that happened until Correa's interview below:

If the post-win proposal was Plan A, then, what was Correa's Plan B?
"Plan B? If we lost, I would have been crying," he joked.
An on-field proposal was just about the perfect end to a perfect evening for Correa. It was the logical conclusion to the type of exuberant few hours he had on the diamond, one that rose in excitement after the final out was recorded:
