Carlos Gomez hit for the cycle and lost his shoe in the process

Carlos Gómez was on a roll during Saturday night's 6-3 win over the Angels. He became just the 10th Rangers player to hit for the cycle and the first since Adrian Belte on Aug. 3, 2015. He christened his achievement with a majestic homer to center field, capping a fantastic night.
The only thing that could slow him down at all was, oddly, his equipment.

During Gomez's first at-bat, one of his cleats flew off as he coasted into second base with a double. It was certainly an inauspicious way to begin the night, but he wasn't deterred. Gomez singled in the third, tripled in the fifth, and homered in the seventh to notch his second career cycle.

He also pulled off the trick nine years ago, back when he was a spry 22-year-old with the Twins on May 7, 2008.

Gomez didn't lose any equipment when he cycled the first time, but perhaps doing so this time around can add to his lore. The 20th century had "Shoeless Joe." Now, the 21st century can have "Shoeless Carlos."
Either way, it's a tremendous feet -- er, feat.
