A throw to home plate beat Dee Gordon, but he made a picture-perfect slide to score

Saturday night was the Mariners' Spring Training finale at Peoria Stadium, and the lucky fans in attendance were in for a treat. They got to see not only a 7-3 win over the Cubs, but also a baserunning clinic from speedster Dee Gordon.
A leadoff homer from Ian Happ had put the Mariners in an early 1-0 hole as Gordon stepped in to begin the bottom of the first. Eddie Butler made the mistake of walking him, and he promptly stole second to put himself in scoring position for Jean Segura. The shortstop then slapped Butler's 2-2 pitch to center for a base hit, sending Gordon off to the races.
The only problem was that Segura's single was hit a little too hard. Center fielder Albert Almora got to the ball quickly and threw in to home plate. Third base coach Scott Brosius saw this and held up the stop sign. Gordon didn't listen ...

... and he scored anyway, thanks to a fantastic slide.
Catcher Chris Gimenez had the ball in plenty of time, but Gordon snuck in behind him and just barely managed to avoid the tag. That's the mark of a true baserunning wizard.
