Giancarlo Stanton homered in his first MLB game since last June, because of course he did

The world was a very different place the last time Giancarlo Stanton hit a home run in a regular-season MLB game, way back on June 24, 2015. "Always the bridesmaid, never the bride" still applied to Leonardo DiCaprio's record at the Oscars. Christian Bale was still Batman.

Stanton -- who missed the second half of 2015 after breaking a bone in his hand -- was finally back in action on Tuesday as the Marlins opened the 2016 season against the Tigers, and the big man got right to work.

In the bottom of the sixth, in just his second at-bat while playing for keeps this season, Stanton launched a laser into the seats at Marlins Park:

And so it was, 286 days later, that all was right with the world once more.
