It's time to watch Adam Wainwright hit his second home run of the season

Adam Wainwright seems like a do-it-yourself kind of guy. No, we're not just saying that because his last name is also an extremely hands-on profession. It's because he clearly likes to help his own cause.
In the second inning of Thursday's Dodgers-Cardinals game, he hit a two-run homer off Brandon McCarthy, and it turned out to be the game-winner. It was the 10th home run of his career …

… and his second of the season! He hit another dinger earlier this year in a game against the Brewers. In fact, with 10 career home runs, he trails only Madison Bumgarner and Yovani Gallardo when it comes to home run totals among active pitchers. (They have 16 and 12, respectively.)
Wainwright also pitched six scoreless innings en route to the Cardinals' victory.
"I think we'll probably hear more about the two-run homer than the scoreless innings," said St. Louis manager Mike Matheny, "But he just continues to go on that great roll making quality pitches with everything and I think he's lined up [to be] arguably the best-hitting pitcher in the league. He's taking good at-bats all the way through and he's had a couple good at-bats for us."
"[McCarthy] threw me a couple of nasty cutters away that I took," said Wainwright. "And he threw me that strike breaking ball before ... I think as athletes in here sometimes we just react, and he showed me the curveball before and kind of locked me up a little bit. But he threw it out of the same slot the next time, and I was able to put a good swing on it."
That's pretty cool. Enjoy the moment, Adam:
