Jameson Taillon has a novel idea to deal with his finger injury

(Justin K. Aller)

It might sound weird, but history has shown that there are plenty of ways that urine can be used in everyday life -- from softening leather to whitening teeth. There are also those who believe it has healing effects on the skin, with noted sans-batting-glove user Moises Alou swearing by the treatment (or, perhaps we should say, peetment) to deal with callouses.

Pirates starter Jameson Taillon might be next big leaguer to go down that road. Dealing with a finger laceration that has put his scheduled Wednesday start against the White Sox in jeopardy, he is looking for any solutions to the issue
"We're just trying to stop the bleeding, get it to harden up as quickly as we can. If you guys, readers, anyone has suggestions, send them my way. I hear some weird stuff," the right-hander told MLB.com's Adam Berry. While people have told him to soak the finger in acidic fruits or use vitamin E lotions, "the most common I've gotten is to pee on your hands," Taillon said.
He then joked,"If it helps, I'll put a sign-up sheet and everyone can just come pee on it. I just want this thing to go away. … I'm open to anything."
Trevor Williams, apparently waiting for just this kind of opportunity, yelled "I'll be right over."
At the moment, Taillon appears likely to make that start ... without going full Bear Grylls.
