Junior Guerra thought he was being taken out of the game, but his manager had other ideas

Brewers starter Junior Guerra had never thrown a complete game in the big leagues. On Friday, he was on his way to changing that: Guerra entered the ninth inning of Milwaukee's matchup with the Pirates working on a two-hit shutout on only 87 pitches. 
But the final frame didn't start off well -- after a Matt Joyce single and a walk to John Jaso, Pittsburgh had the tying run at the plate and Guerra was up to 99 pitches. Closer Jeremy Jeffress was warm in the bullpen. Manager Craig Counsell began walking out to the mound.
It seemed like Guerra's day done. So he did what any starter would do in this situation: He went to hand the ball to his manager ... and was adorably surprised to learn that that wasn't necessary:

Guerra rewarded Counsell's faith with consecutive ground outs, but after allowing a run to score, he was pulled for Jeffress, who came on to slam the door on the Brewers' 3-1 win.
