Our long national nightmare is over because Mike Trout hit his first homer of the season
The first sound you heard in the video above was the crack of Mike Trout's bat, as the 2014 AL MVP unloaded on a Sonny Gray offering in the sixth inning of Monday's Angels-Athletics game.
The second sound you heard was the collective sigh of relief we all shared as our long national nightmare ended.
That monster dinger hit above the 388 sign at the Oakland Coliseum, which is industry jargon for, "HE GOT ALL'A THAT ONE!"

Trout has gotten off to a bit of a sluggish start to the 2016 season. So much so that he jokingly requested the ball from his first hit of the year, which came on Thursday after an 0-for-8 slump. Since getting that monkey off his back, Trout is 5-for-15 with a double and Monday's homer.
Yup, that's more like it.
