The Myrtle Beach Pelicans announced a Deaf Awareness Night with Curtis Pride and sign language jerseys
On Monday, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans announced that their Aug. 19 game will be Deaf Awareness Night complete with custom American Sign Language (ASL) jerseys and an appearance from former Major League outfielder Curtis Pride.
The Cubs' Class A Advanced affiliate has a full slate of events planned for the game:

In addition to the text on the jerseys, both the national anthem and "God Bless America" will be performed in ASL. Fans can also participate in a pregame "Intro to ASL" class as well as a Q&A with Pride, who had an 11-year career in the Majors and has been deaf since birth. Along with Pelicans coaches and players, Pride will also host a free youth baseball clinic for members of the deaf community.
To help create an inclusive experience for the deaf community, the game will feature a silent inning and sign-language interpreters will be part of the gameday experience. And, like any good baseball game, the night will end with a postgame fireworks display.
