Rocco Baldelli played hero and reunited a lost dog with her owner
Rocco Baldelli already holds a special place in Rays fans hearts for his spirited play with the club in the early-2000s before injuries brought his career to a premature end. Now on the team's coaching staff, Baldelli may have just wriggled a little deeper into club lore after playing hero to a lost dog.
The former outfielder spotted the spotted pup in St. Petersburg on Tuesday night and quickly put out the alert:
FOUND DOG - LAST NIGHT IN ST PETE. Found this sweet girl on 22nd Ave, next to Crescent Lake. She's safe. Please help identify - no collar. @tampabaytimes @TBTimes_Sports @bn9 @WFLA @abcactionnews @FOX13News @10NewsWTSP pic.twitter.com/dLRaX5J1rQ- Rocco Baldelli (@roccodbaldelli) April 18, 2018
The word was spread. The magic of social media quickly connected Baldelli with the owner:
There was no mistaking the familial resemblance when Baldelli arrived to return the dog to the owner. Charlotte was home:
REUNITED! Thank you everyone for spreading the word.....Charlotte is now back home with her brother. She's a sweetheart. pic.twitter.com/VgBCq85wc2- Rocco Baldelli (@roccodbaldelli) April 18, 2018
It's almost as if Rays players attract strays. New Orioles pitcher Alex Cobb was a Tampa Bay player when he adopted his stray, Oscar.
