Royals dad heroically snags foul ball, scrambles to keep his son from tossing it back
If this season has shown us anything, it's that every kid dreams of taking home a big league foul ball. Just look at the pure joy it inspires -- the impromptu hugging, the photos to commemorate the occasion, the public displays of baseball affection.
As a parent, nothing could be sweeter than putting that look on your child's face. And one lucky Royals dad managed to do just that during Kansas City's 16-3 loss to the A's on Monday. Ryon Healy sent a foul ball in his direction, and after it took several different bounces, our intrepid hero made a barehanded snag. He quickly handed the souvenir to his son, vaulting into the lead in the Dad of the Year competition ... until his son tried to throw the ball away.
Quick, we need Statcast™ to take a look at that reaction time. Nothing inspires route efficiency like abject terror.
