Jeff Samardzija proved that pitchers can make great barehanded plays, too

Despite being paid to throw baseballs at high speeds and with great accuracy, any time a pitcher is asked to field a ball and throw it's almost always an adventure. During the Giants' 2-1 victory over the Pirates on Wednesday afternoon, Jeff Samardzija proved that he's more than up to the task.
With the bases loaded in the top of the second, Pirates starter Trevor Williams chopped a ball on the infield grass. Moving off the mound, Samardzija barehanded the ball and, in almost the same motion, threw to home for the force out:

We shouldn't be surprised that Samardzija pulled it off, though. After all, it is Shark Week.
