Only top-notch athleticism (and the splits!) made this play by Dansby Swanson and Freddie Freeman possible

Baseball players are athletes -- this isn't up for debate, but sometimes it's good to remind you of that.

One of the latest examples of the undeniable athleticism of ballplayers came in Friday night's Mets-Braves game at SunTrust Park, courtesy of shortstop Dansby Swanson and first baseman Freddie Freeman on a grounder from Amed Rosario.

OK, calling it a "grounder" is a bit misleading. Because if you saw a shortstop running that deep into the hole between second and third base, would you think it'd end in a putout? That's what happened, thanks to some full-on extension from Freeman at first base.

Range, athleticism and the splits! This play had it all.
