The emotional young Pirates fan is back, and he still loves his team

Not even one year ago, the world was introduced to a young Pirates fan who experienced the game of baseball -- both its highs and its lows -- to the fullest extent. When we last left him, he was in absolute elation over a Starling Marte home run.

But we also know well that this particular fan experiences equally intense emotions in response to disappointment.

He was back at PNC Park Tuesday night for the Pirates' extra-innings loss to the Orioles, 6-5. While he still showed the ability to become immersed in the emotional fluctuations of a game of baseball, he seems to have mellowed in his advanced age.
During the early innings of the game with his Pirates leading, our protagonist found himself in a state of glucose-fueled bliss. Not tears of joy like last year, but a pure expression of the human emotion of happiness nonetheless.

When Jonathan Schoop hit a two-run homer to tie the game in the ninth inning, our young fan's team found itself in peril. But there were no tears this time:

Having seen this play out before, all he could do was shake his head. What will his temperment be one year hence? We'll just have to wait and see.
