Finn, the Las Vegas Aviators' bat dog, was trying to do his job but the home-plate umpire had other plans

Remember Finn, the very good boy who served as the Las Vegas 51s' bat dog last season? Well, that MiLB club is now the Aviators, the A's Triple-A affiliate in Vegas, and Finn's still there.

Finn was trying to do his job on Tuesday night in the Aviators' game against the Sacramento Rivercats, but ... the home-plate umpire happened to grab the bat first.

Finn is a student of the game and is particularly committed to his task, though, so he didn't let that slight detour keep him from grabbing the bat before the next hitter, Sean Murphy, came up to the plate ... he just had to trot a few extra feet before returning it to the dugout.

Good boy, Finn!
