Whiff city: Yankees Minor Leaguer Jonathan Holder struck out 11 in a row and 12 out of 13

Led by the power surge of catcher Gary Sánchez and other sluggers like Aaron Judge, the Yankees are currently enjoying a boon of young talent affectionately being referred to as the #BabyBombers.
This weekend, Jonathan Holder put himself in the conversation with a simply dazzling pitching performance.
The right-hander took the mound for the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in their game with Rochester on Sunday, tossing four innings of scoreles relief. But they weren't just any innings of scoreless relief. No, this was a video game-level performance of 11 strikeouts in a row. Oh, and he also wound up fanning 12 of the 13 batters he faced, too. Here's what that looked like:

Among the players set down by Holder during his dominant stretch were Byron Buxton, Kennys Vargas, and two of the Twins' top prospects, Adam Walker and Daniel Palka.
What Holder did on Sunday was simply astounding, really, when you consider the all-time MLB record for consecutive strikeouts in a game is 10 in a row, a feat Tom Seaver accomplished against the Padres in 1970.
If Holder, a sixth-round pick by the Yankees in the 2014 MLB Draft, keeps up this type of pace at Triple-A, expect to see a lot more of him soon.
