Taking advantage of your CEP funds does not mean that you are giving up on your dreams. This presentation explains how to access your CEP funds and why it is important to plan ahead.

In a world where we are constantly connected through mobile devices and social media, the importance of securing our digital identities is greater than ever. For players in particular, maintaining a positive and professional brand on social media is especially important as they serve as the face of the game. Throughout this presentation, players learn about MLB's Social Media Policy and how to effectively manage their accounts and devices. Players are provided best practices for identifying and avoiding online threats, protecting their personal data, and staying safe online.

Presentation Overview

This presentation outlines the importance of diversity, and why an equitable and inclusive workplace is a priority at MLB, as mandated in our Workplace Code of Conduct policy. It defines and provides examples of discrimination, prejudice and stereotypes alongside MLB’s zero-tolerance policy for racism, sexism or homophobia. It also provides an overview of MLB’s anti-bullying and anti-hazing policies as well as MLB’s support for social justice.

DRUG PROGRAM

This presentation provides important information on the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. It focuses on the different classes of banned substances and the discipline and consequences that accompany a violation of the Program. This includes the consequences of the use or possession of a drug(s) of abuse and the accompanying substance abuse treatment program requirements. It also provides an overview of the NSF Certified for Sport program and the dangers associated with the use of non-certified and possibly contaminated nutritional and dietary supplements. Finally, the presentation addresses certain “hot topics” that have arisen recently to help players avoid potential pitfalls. HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS

This presentation provides information on MLB’s Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (DV/SA/CA) Policies. It includes examples of healthy and unhealthy behaviors in a relationship and provides insight on the cycle of abuse. Additionally, it provides general information on topics such as sexual assault, child abuse, harassment, consent, and barriers to consent. This presentation also highlights available resources that MLB offers to players and their families.

MENTAL WELLNESS

This presentation is dedicated to defining the importance and priority of mental wellness. It includes an introduction and description of medical staff available (EAP and Mental Skills Coordinator) to every player. General information is provided on the topics of stress, anxiety and depression which may occur from the unique challenges of being a professional athlete, everyday life and the uncertainties brought on by COVID-19. Additionally, this presentation provides guidance on how to utilize and access valuable resources available to you or members of your family.

This presentation provides guidelines on how to avoid off-the-field issues that may have negative consequences and may affect the player’s on-field growth and development. During this session, experts address the players on a number of topics, including safety, security, safe driving and gambling. Representatives from MLB’s Department of Investigations and Security & Ballpark Operations also inform the players of available resources for them and their families through the Resident Security Agents (RSA) Program.

WORKING WITH THE MEDIA

This presentation gives an overview of best practices when working with members of the media. It covers the basics of media access regulations in the Clubhouse and provides guidance on how to have a successful interview. It also provides some insight regarding the importance of showing respect in all interactions with female reporters.
